Hi Jam,

I don't see any immediate relation between potential business idea" or "market potential" and learning HTML (and oh, especially Front Page, which is an HTML editor of the past). Web design is a craft, and as with any craft, unless you're really good in it - your product will be below mediocre. Of course you can learn HTML as a hobby - but if you indeed have an idea that makes sense and has a potential - allow an expert to work on your web site.

@kfowler22

I was a client a number of times, now I actually have a web development studio -- so I know both sides of the issue.

It's really all about what you want, how soon you want it and your budget. I assume you want to show something to potential investors. If you don't have any budget but have time then yes, you can actually learn some things about web design and HTML and make your web site off a template for example, because making a site without any knowledge and experience will be a disaster, believe me.

If you have some budget then you can hire a freelancer (which I personally wouldn't do if I were you - I had enough negative experiences with them), or hire a small studio. Just don't hire anyone who claims they will make you a web site for $200 or $500 - you will get a piece of sh*t site that will take you nowhere.

Hope this helps.
