Also can anyone tell me how the loan repayments are done?
Will the instalments be deducted from your salary after applying tax or before applying tax?

Well I am at the Ross School of Business and I feel Ross pretty much gives the best deal for internationals. You don't need a cosigner, the interest rate is prime + 1.75% (that turns out to be 5%), the lowest among the top 5 schools and repayment starts 6 months after you have graduated. The best part is that as an international, you don't have to submit any documents. Just ask for the amount of loan you need (upto a max of $69,000) and it will be provided to you.

I've heard in some countries student loan repayment amount is tax free.
How is it in the States?

You could help everyone out here by nominating which countries you are considering working in.

People who know the comparative international tax rules are extremely rare.

MIT has a no-cosigner for internationals through its Credit Union (MITCU). Basically, if you get in, money shouldn't be an issue.  I'm not sure of the terms, but they were pretty competitive and it's definitely worth a look. Good luck!

This might be of interest:

We've been updating this as we get word from the schools on their specific loan offerings/policies for international students.

Best of luck,
