Didnt see any thread on UT Austin yet.  Is anyone working on their app?  I am just finishing up their first essay.  :(

I am applying R1 as well. Currently finishing up other essays and will begin UT's this weekend. I have drafts of two of them written currently, albeit poor drafts. I'm going for a visit next week. Anybody else visit?

I am contemplating about it.  However, I spoke with several alumi and none of them visited the school prior to admission, some havent even been to Austin until the Orientation week.

Where are you from?  I am from NY, not sure if this is worth the trip.

Tdelwar- would love some tips. Thanks for the offer. Care to share your stats as well?

Everyone else- I am from Colorado. Anyone else from the Rocky Mountains looking at McCombs? Seems like they send a lot of alumni around this beautiful area.
I am applying R1. Already submitted an app to another school and my big issue is cutting down the word count for McCombs' essays.

This is how i approached it:>

-be very clear on reasonable post-mba goals. i didnt state career switch
-know the school
-emphasise team work
-show love for the school

let me know if you need anything else.

best,

Thanks tdelwar. I think I have my two top bullets covered, but the "show the love" is tough. I talk about the programs and strengths of McCombs and how it syncs with my goals... how would you recommend I show MORE love?

have you been to campus?

do you know who the "hot" professors are and why?

do you know the little things that mccombs is doing that sets it apart?

a great idea may be to go to vault.com.. you can thank me later.. ;)

regards.
