A few people have said that the remaining 100 or so invites for HBS Round 1 will go to "oddball candidates." Who qualifies as an oddball candidate? Does that mean the 700 or so Round 1 invites sent out so far are mainly bankers and consultants?

non-oddball also means engineers, a few CPG marketing folks, some straight-out-of-college (since this is HBS).

oddball means military, artsy, entrepreneur, really unusual nonprofit, etc.

Interesting. I can understand why an "artsy" might be considered an oddball. But why is an "entrepreneur" considered an oddball?  Doesn't HBS want that?

I didn't realize 700 invites had gone out. I thought that was last year. This year:

We expect to begin sending out interview invitations on October 16. This year we may not be trying to send as many out on one day as we did last year... maybe more like a not-scientifically-measured stream until December 15. We really (really, really, really) don't know how many will go out on any given day. If you call and ask, we will say exactly that.

Or, do you know better somehow that 700 invites indeed have gone out?

Just from the various threads, it seems like most have gone out. Based on how many interview slots are left and such.

I've been reading some of these other threads as well. Bummer. Dee's blog post has everyone fuming, eh?
