Just happened to observe that the share of scandals where Wharton alums are at the helm appears to disproportionately large, the most recent one being the Galleon debacle. The head honcho - Raj Rajaratnam was a Wharton grad and so were a few other accused (Anil Kumar, Rajiv Goel..). Think Michael Milken, Frank Quattrone (Wharton undergrad but Stanford MBA) - all of them have a wharton connection. Would be interesting to get how the wall of shame for finance scandals breaks up amongst dfferent b-school grads.

I'm Wharton 2011 - while I love the school I agree it is a real shame when alumni disgrace the brand. Also agree it would be interesting to see how scandals break across b-schools.

Maybe the answer is to have more of an ethics screen during the admissions process for all b-schools?

I remember seeing a slide show article a while back that showed each top b-school and all their alums that were instrumental in the financial crisis.  Just spent the past 10 minutes searching and couldn't find it though.  Anyone remember seeing that?  Seemed like every top ten school, not just Wharton, had its share of bad seeds.

Are you serious!

I don't think any program is free if scandal. HBS is being blamed for the performance of Paulson, Thain and O'Neil but that is not fair and neither is it fair to take scandals that happened 20 years apart to make an argument against Wharton.

Wharton has (I think) the largest graduating class of any MBA program, meaning that they have by far the largest number of alumni out there, hence increasing the chances that they'll be in the news.

More alumni = more statistical experiments. :)

i think HBS is a little larger than wharton in terms of class size. however, i agree that most of the top tier schools have had alumni "disgrace" the brand in one way or another... i dont think this is entirely a reflection of the schools, but rather an indication of the fierce competition that exists in the business world.

Are we forgetting the most famous of them all who is not from W but HBS? GW Bush? Wonder what kind of leadership skills HBS saw in GW Bush to select him? I think the admission/essay consultants for MBA admissions lurking on this forum need a new pitch, something like -> " We could even get G W Bush into HBS!!".
