Hi, all!

It's interesting and useful to read your insightful posts for me. Actually I am looking forward to applying to a business school and do marketing. Haven't chosen any particular yet, I can say that I am just investing around now. So, I would appreciate if you could suggest which schools to look into for marketing.

I read at businessweek.com about their ranking, but the information seems to be obsolete somewhat. I believe things could have changed in those three years after the information was posted. So they said:

University of California-Berkeley
Duke University
Harvard University
Indiana University
University of Michigan
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
University of Pennsylvania
Northwestern University
University of Texas-Austin
University of Virginia
Also consider: Dartmouth College, New York University, University of Rochester

Maybe you can add some more schools to the list or omit any existing?

Thank you in advance!

The best schools to go to for marketing are the best schools to go to for everything. Harvard and Stanford.

Forgot to mention - I am not that keen on top 5 schools. I assume I won't have that super-stats to be admitted to one...

If you can't get into Stanford and Harvard, Kellogg is a by far the best marketing school out of the rest. Sure, the material might be the same at other schools, but Kellogg's reputation and network throughout the marketing field will go a long way in advancing your career.

So like the poster said above, go for Stanford and Harvard, because they will open up doors for you anywhere you want to go, but after those two, Northwestern is where you want to go if you're looking to build a career in marketing. This, of course, is only based on academics and reputation!

Anyone who uses the Businessweek specialty rankings to decide where to apply to deserves to end up at the school they land at.

My honest opinion?  Michigan's marketing curriculum is vastly overrated.  And this is coming from a big Ross apologist, as well as many many friends who are in top marketing roles nationwide that left disappointed with the courses they took in the department.

If you're looking for a marketing job in CPG, I think there is no better school than Kelley. Their connections to Fortune 500 CPG companies are tough to beat.

Stick to the overall rankings

H/S

W

K/Chi/MIT

Col/Tuck

Haas/Cornell/Darden/Michigan/Yale etc

If you have a tie-breaker and are choosing between K and Chi and / or MIT, K is the most marketing-oriented of those 3
