I did not find that environmental and OCCUPATIONAL doctors have your best interests at heart. I saw one and had a huge amount of documentation, but he insisted that mold did not cause anything serious. Basically, you go around seeing one arrogant SOB after another and they all have made up their minds or something, until you realize that almost all doctors are clueless in this area. They love taking your money, though. Even if they don't listen to you or do anything for you at all, you still MUST PAY THEM.
So, your mileage may vary. The best tip that I received was somebody who sent me email telling me about Dr. Shoemaker and cholestyramine, which brought my reactivity down from a very very bad state to good winter+spring, fair in summer (usually air conditioners), bad in fall. (the leaves rotting makes me sick)
Cholestyramine is what they call a bile acid sequestrant that as a side benefit, it removes mold toxins that accumulate in your bile. Once you have been exposed to enough mold to start some kind of trigger, you are sensitive to them for life.
Evidently, genetics is involved. For around 1/4 of us, without removal, they can and do build up making you really sick.
