Man, I am waiting for the placement report of 2008. But one thing is for sure, if I join a company in Western Europe (where I currently am), I could not get a post-MBA salary as low as 57000€ after 3-4 years of experience. This is the salary of an engineer after 4-5 years. An MBA is supposed to push your salary by 20,000€ at least. I am trying to get contacts of IE Alumni who work in West Europe to get realistic figures for this region.

In the meantime, I would suggest that one focuses on IE. INSEAD waitlist is already a 1 in 20 chance in my eyes as not more than 10 guys will leave their seat in INSEAD and I am supposing that there are more than 100 waitlisters (since I see every second person on this forum is Waitlisted at INSEAD, I wonder how short is the short waitlist at INSEAD). But, whatever, I would not lose sleep over this. IE is rising in the top ranks and is definitely one of the top 4-5 European schools, so chill and prepare your mind to grab some scholarship and loans. Rest is too far in the future.

By the way, may I ask where you are from. Maybe our paths cross in IE/ INSEAD. Also, it would be cool if we could share the info we get from these Alumni. Businessweek posts salaries of most recent IE grads at $99,000. But, if the school itself has 57000€ noone else can contradict it. I guess some low salary guys have dragged the average down.

Cool, 26 m Indian. Originally from Delhi, I have spent last 8 years in Germany having studied here and now working for the last 3.5 years (will be 4 in April 2010 :)). Actually, I have filed for the citizenship of Germany. Regarding INSEAD, already 46 Indians. Last year it was 52. Dunno what's in store. The thought crossed my mind that things might have been different if I already possessed German citizenship. But so could have they been if the German post didn't delay my post in the first Round forcing me to apply for Round 2 and my admissions coordinator didn't write to me 2 days before round 2 deadline that my application has been moved to round 3 because they expected TOEFL which resulted in me writing long mails and calling them many times in the last day and they finally taking me in round 2 but delaying my round 2 interview decision by over 3 weeks. And after all this I got waitlisted. Kinda fun story, isn't it?

But, I supposed God has something else in store for me. When I was in India, I worked my ass of for getting into IITs ( you might know premier Indian Institutes for Engineering kinda like MIT in the US) and missed in a similar fun way and came to Germany and now believe have gained better experiences in my life by doing my Engineering Degree in an international setting with over 30 different nationalities and a better job than I could have got with a degree from IIT.

So, maybe, IE is better for me than INSEAD is, who knows. Sorry, if I bored you with my story but this is probably what makes me human. And, I also wanted to make a point about maybe God thinks IE is the destiny for us.

Man, the glitches with the post and TOEFL really suck. Sound like a horrid Fawlty Tower sketch. Respect to you to go to Germany and learn German from scratch. Where did you study, heard that eng. is tough subject there with high selectivity. At least you have the 'international mindset' category for Insead covered. Agree that with German citizenship you might have a better chance.

Thanks Cazari. Well, I hope I can say 'All is well that ends well' at the end of all of it i.e. getting admitted to getting a cool job post-MBA. :)

Hi Guys,

I am just another dinged applicant of INSEAD. and I am accepted @ IE. I am sooo  annoyed 'cause I am not sure about if IE is worth the huge investment !!? Moreover, I want to change my career to Strategy consulting and I really have strong doubts if IE can help in this career shift... any thoughts guys ?!
