Hi everyone,

The thread has been rather quiet lately - I'm writing to remind you that I'm out here and ready to answer any questions about the CBS admissions process.

As a side note, here's an event announcement you all might find interesting - Warren Buffett and Bill Gates will be speaking together at Columbia Business School next month, and the event will be broadcast on CNBC: http://www.cnbc.com/id/33495537.

Best,
Christina

Hi Christina,

I already submitted my application for ED, but something about my application has been bugging me and I was wondering if you could please help clarify something.

Under the job duties category, I noticed that the last line I wrote was cut off in my printout(you can only see the top of the letters).  I did not go over the word/character limit, but I think this happened because I inserted spaces between each line so it would be easier for the admissions committee to read.  A couple of questions:

1.      Will the admissions committee be able to view everything I wrote in that box?

2.       Will the admissions committee also review the resume I uploaded?

Thank you very much.

Hi Christina,

When is it safe to say that an ED applicant has been rejected without interview?

3 weeks after review? 4? 5? 6? 7? the whole 10 weeks?

Thanks

2012MBA - That's an excellent question.  I would like to know the answer to this as well.

The answer to both of your questions is "yes" - no need to worry!

2012MBA,

You wrote, "When is it safe to say that an ED applicant has been rejected without interview?"

It is important to remember that in our rolling admissions process, an invitation to interview can come at any time. We guarantee that you will hear from us with either an invitation to interview or a final decision with 10 weeks of the date your application goes under review. You should make no assumptions about your candidacy until you see a status change in your application.

Best,
Christina

Hi Christina,

Thanks for helping with our queries.

I am an Indian applicant and I have applied for Columbia ED. My application is currently under review. In the application, instead of writing a GPA, I have written the percentage marks I scored during my bachelor's degree. There is no GPA given in Delhi University.

Although the application instructs that, if there was no official GPA provided, I must give a rough estimate of my GPA, . But there is no way I could have given an estimate as the number of students in the university is huge.

a. Is this going to affect adcom's decision, regarding my application?

b. Can I do something else to help the adcom get a close estimate or does the adcom has a criteria of its own? I think it does, but just want to confirm.

Thanks again for your time.

regards

Cristina, I am an applicant from south America and I reapplied to Columbia in the ED. I am very worry about my 640 GMAT score. I got 43 raw in quantitative and 34 raw in verbal. Did my score put me in a serious disadvantage to be admitted to Columbia? Did you use the CFA program as tool to know more about quantitative skills? I got a 103 in the TOEFL so I think that helps you to know more about my English.

Thanks.

Hi Christina,

Thank you for answering applicants' questions.  I would appreciate your help with the following 2 questions:

1. Is it helpful to be further recommended to the Admissions Committe by a CBS alum/student ? Does that increase chances of admission?

2. What is the deposit deadline for regular applicants?

Thank you.

Golf_fan,

In response to your questions regarding this:

A. No, this will not affect the admissions committee's review of your application.

B. There is no need to provide us with any additional information. Please know that with such a high volume of applications, we regularly see GPAs and grading systems from all over the world.

Best,
Christina
