Dear fellow R1 applicants:

Has anyone received an interview invitation?

hi txeconomist--thanks for your post. While we are open to discussing an applicant's competitiveness, it is not possible to talk with every candidate. We would invite you to join us at a recruiting event near your location where we can give you a few minutes to hear about you and offer our advice. We receive so many applications and interest that we cannot speak to everyone by phone and MBA Fairs offer an opportunity to connect. Thanks for the interest in the Johnson School!

Best Regards,

Dear Johnson Adm,

Does one need to explain the gap between graduation and first job?

When I finished school 5 years ago I had a gap of almost 10 months because I graduated in December instead of May.

Does this deserve an explanation in the optional essay?

Hi
I have a question about answering the career goal essay for the full time MBA program.
What career do you plan to pursue upon completing the MBA and why? How will the Johnson School help you achieve this goal?

My question is do I just need to write my immediate goal after MBA? Or should I include my long-term goals also.
Are you only interested ( or asking) the short-term goal.
Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions.
Thanks

Hi Ari123. You should be able to explain in that essay your short and long term goals and why the Johnson School is going to help you get there. Hope this helps!

TLS, you should use to optional essay to address any red flags in your application or history. As such, that would be a great place to talk about your gap in emplyment out of school. And, btw, it is not uncommon for students to take a long trip in between graduation and start dates or in a tough economy, struggle to find emplyment or take some time off to be with family et al. Good luck!

hi mymba09--thanks for your post. We cannot tell you how long it will take until you get a decision from us. We are currently reviewing Round One applications and have sent out many invitations to interview. Our Round One decision date is December 17, 2009 and you might not hear from us until near that date. Applications are reviewed as they come off the printer and are made complete. We still have plenty to review and are in the process of getting through them one at a time. Also, just fyi, each application gets read at least twice before a decision is made to offer and interview or deny. The process, while time consuming, is thorough and works well. Good luck to you!

Hello Johnson Admissions Team,

I applied for admission in R2 (on Nov 12) for Fall 2010. My application is still in "Submitted" state. Can you please let me know when will it go under "Complete" or "Under Review"?

Also, I do under stand that final decisions will be available by Feb 16, 2010. But I would like to know if I there is a particular date by which I can expect an Interview call?

If yes, then pls let me know the date. Also, is an Interview a mandatory part of the application or is it that you might offer someone an admit without an Interview?

Thanks,
Whizeee
